How to change default search engine in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge has improved a lot and got far better than it used to be before. It offers better battery life, has an inbuilt anti-tracking system, and hogs less RAM than Chrome. But when it comes to tweaking some settings in Edge, it’s not that friendly web browser. Unlike Chrome, the settings to change the default search engine is not located on the main page itself.

So, we have created this small guide to help you find basic settings and change the search engine from Bing to Google or any other search engine. With that in mind, let’s go through the steps.

Change the default search engine on Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge browser and go to Settings > Privacy and services > Address bar or copy the below address and open it on Edge.

2. Here, click on the first drop-down menu and select “Google” or whatever search engine you prefer.

3. Now, switch to the “Address bar” from Microsoft’s Search box. This one is an additional step, but by default Search box uses Bing no matter what you use as your default search engine. Once you have done that, search queries on new tabs will move directly to the address by default.
