Jio, Qualcomm 5G trials achieve 1 Gbps speed in India

Reliance Jio and Qualcomm Technologies announced today their developments of the 5G network for India. The results claim a whopping 1 Gbps speed during the trials on the Jio 5GNR solution using the Qualcomm 5G RAN platforms.

Reliance Jio in July announced their plans for made in India 5G network and solutions, avoiding their dependencies on Chinese network equipment vendors like ZTE and Huawei.

Currently, Jio is also working with Google to develop affordable 5G phones for the Indian market.

To recall, Jio platforms has raised over 1.52 lakh crore this year from investors like Facebook, Google, Silver Lake, KKR and Qualcomm Ventures.

Later, during the 43rd Annual General Meeting in July, Reliance Jio announced their plans to develop 5G network infrastructure using their own platforms and network equipment from the ground up.

Moreover, Reliance announced a series of products under Jio, including affordable 5G smartphones developed in partnership with Google.

India is expected to auction 5G airwaves in 2021, and Reliance Jio, with their ambitions, want to be the first adopters of the 5G network in the country.

At present, countries like the US, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland, and Germany can provide a 1 Gbps average speed to users.
